There’s no doubt, Adele has a hit with “Hello.”    Lots of people are finding Youtube success by making their own parodies of the song.

So what makes videos go viral?

There’s no specific formula, and the right combination is fugacious.

These “Hello” parodies are going viral for three main reasons.

1. TIMELINESS: Hello is topping the charts, so it’s a point of reference for a wide audience.
2. EMOTIONAL APPEAL:  Viral videos touch on our emotions to produce joy, anger, etc.
3. INCLUDE OTHERS:  They perpetuate by getting others to create content around the theme and provide more UGC (user-generated content)
