Pillarboxing is the term used to describe the effect you get when you hold your smartphone in a portrait (vertical) orientation. If you’re guilty of this, STOP IT! Always hold your phone in a landscape (horizontal) position when recording videos.
Think about it. Your TV is horizontal; your video camera must be, too.
