They can tell you what they want to achieve. They’re clear about where they want to go. The elevator speech is impeccable. Everything looks good on paper.
Still, they’re hesitant to “pass Go and collect $200.” They just will not commit or take action.
What’s the hold up?
They don’t know enough, yet. Maybe, they’re concerned that there’s something lurking “out there” that will emerge from the shadows of the unknown and trip them.
They’re not convinced you know how to get them from Point A to Point B without further consultations, meetings and education. They’re waiting on their map.
So, they look for alternatives.
Google offers the best practices, hacks and hidden secrets to accomplish just about anything in business. The promise of being able to see the path from beginning to end is too alluring. And too good to be true.
“You can’t ‘best practice’ your way to extraordinary.” Jay Acunzo reached this conclusion in his blog last December.
Innovators don’t concern themselves with best practices. Trailblazers don’t have a model to adapt or a system to follow.
Market leaders listen to their customers. They find a better solution to their customers’ problems. And they draw their own maps in the process.
Yet, as small business owners and entrepreneurs, we aspire to be innovators and trailblazers on one hand…and simply follow the herd on the other.
We’ll exhaust ourselves with never-ending research on how to launch…and fail to launch.
We’ll follow a template we found via a boosted post on Facebook and find ourselves squarely in the middle of the pack, along with everyone else who bought the same template.
We’ll hope for the stars and aim for the middle of the road.
If your aspiration is to be a leader in the marketplace, you must chart a course that is specific to your organization and meets your customers’ needs.
Isn’t it time to stop following someone else’s roadmap? Fold it. Neatly, if possible. And put it back in the box.
You have better places to go.
We still have room for 3 participants who are ready to chart a course to reach their ideal customer. It’s an interactive day of learning, brainstorming and masterminding.
The workshop runs from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, March 11 at The Empty Cup – 9111 Executive Park Drive, Knoxville, TN 37923.
