Tomorrow is the last day of Entrepreneurs DIY Marketing Month.

Every day in June, Be Media Savvy has posted a DIY marketing strategy on our Facebook page. Thirty days. Thirty ideas that you can implement yourself to grow your visibility, credibility and profitability.  Some can be accomplished in one sitting while others may take a few months.

Just because June and DIY Marketing Month end tomorrow does not mean your efforts to reach your customers stop. Carry the momentum forward into July, your third quarter, the back half of your year, and into 2018 – your best year ever.

For your convenience, here are all 30 tips.  Print it.  Share it.  Whatever you choose, just make sure you do something to market your business every day.

  1. Get a clear picture of your customer first.  Start with “who” and you’ll have better insight into “what” to say.  Be Media Savvy hosts Saturday workshops that focus on finding the right customer and telling a powerful story.  Check our Events page for the next date.
  2. Turn your business card into a lead generator. Give people a reason to contact you by offering a coupon, freebie, bonus offer, etc.
  3. Blog.  Use keywords.  Write consistently…at least once a week.  I blogged about Entrepreneurs DIY Marketing at my last company four years ago.  That blog is still on the front page of Google.
  4. Broadcast yourself on YouTube.  It’s the second most-used search engine (after Google).  Videos enhance your SEO when you include links to your web site in the description.
  5. Update your LinkedIn profile.  Write it like a sales letter, so people will know what to expect when they work with you.  Invite them to contact you, if you’re serious about growing your business through professional networking.
  6. Join a networking organization in your community.  Knoxville has a new organization called Women’s Prosperity Network that is geared toward personal and professional development for female business owners.
  7. Add media and links to your e-mail signature.  A professional headshot and embedded URLs to your social media profiles, blog or web site are great for this.
  8. Be authentic.  So much marketing is done on social media today…and it’s called “social” for a reason.  Consumers want to know your “why.”  Develop a better way of telling your story at one of our workshops.
  9. Use social proof to establish your credibility.  Ask happy customers to write reviews, testimonials and endorsements for you and/or your products.  Feature these client success stories prominently on your home page and social media profiles.
  10. Volunteer in your community.  Not only will you have a fun, rewarding day, you will also meet others who share your values and passions…and might possibly become a customer, a referral, or a partner-in-crime.
  11. Facebook Live.  Use video to connect with your followers and their friends.  Facebook alerts followers when you’re live and then archives the recording for playback on your Facebook page.
  12. Create a “lead magnet” and “lead capture” system for in-bound marketing.  Offer to solve one problem for free, and then nurture your new friendship with helpful follow-up information.  Host your lead magnet on your home page or a landing page. Questions? Contact us for the skinny.
  13. Get amazing, high-resolution photographs – free to use any way you like – from unsplash.com.  Add eye-catching images to your blog, web site, landing page, pamphlets and social media sites.
  14. Talk to people from a stage. Gain expert status when you present your content at professional associations, continuing education seminars, civic groups and corporate events.  Learn how here.
  15. Partner with another business owner to cross-promote your brands to the other’s customer list.  This can double your reach immediately.
  16. June 23 is Take Your Dog to Work Day.  Attract more attention and break down barriers by having your loveable pooch at your side.
  17. Host a Meetup.  Get acquainted with other likeminded professionals, or attract prospects to come hear about your company.
  18. Get published.  Write a book, and sell it on Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle form.  Now that you’re an author, you might appear on stage or be interviewed in the media as a subject matter expert.
  19. Podcast or streaming radio. Increase your visibility and credibility by hosting your own audio production in podcast or internet radio form. You pick the topic and invite guest experts (aka: other authors) to talk about it.
  20. Partner with another company that already serves your ideal customer.  Create a package deal that combines your goods or services with theirs for a value-added offering.
  21. Download royalty-free HD stock video from videos.pexels.com for use on your web page or in video ads.
  22. Equip yourself with an essential toolkit of hardware and software to create your own videos.  85% of the US internet audience watches videos online.
  23. Host your own talk show, direct to Facebook Live, complete with graphics and multiple cameras, using the BeLive.tv app.
  24. Get marked.  Put your logo on your vehicle and apparel…or at least on a name badge.
  25. Sharpies® and Post-It Notes®.  Learn to think in bullet-point headlines by taking notes with big markers in little spaces.  It makes your copywriting succinct.
  26. Work with a purpose and plan regularly.  Coordinate marketing efforts with all partners, managers or departments.  If you’re flying solo, collaborate with a mastermind group or marketing consultant at least monthly to make sure you keep on track to meet your goals.
  27. Write better headlines.  Headlines are key for email marketing, content marketing, and social media posts.  See how your headline ideas stack up with this free analyzer.
  28. Feed your brain. “Leaders are readers.” Consume all the content you can find in your area of expertise and then share this newfound knowledge with your audience.  Here are two for business and marketing: The E-Myth Revisited and Guerrilla Marketing
  29. Get valuable media coverage for your business by becoming an expert source for journalists around the globe.  Join HARO® – Help A Reporter Out and respond to the daily queries in your category of expertise.

Here is tomorrow’s DIY tip…one day early.

  30. Use the phone. This is the biggest DIY thing you can do to reach your business goals in July.  Print a list of your active clients, past customers, and warm prospects. Call 10 of them a day, every day, until you’ve exhausted the list.  Make appointments to connect.  Find out what new problems have come up.  Seek to serve.
